Hall effect sticks use magnets and a magnetic sensor to read the stick’s position instead of parts rubbing together. With no contact wear on the sensor, they are designed to resist drift and stay consistent over time, which makes them popular for long Warzone sessions.
TMR (tunnelling magnetoresistance) sticks are also magnetic and contact-free, like Hall effect sticks, but use a more sensitive sensor. They typically offer finer precision and lower power draw, which can help battery life on wireless controllers.
Both are big upgrades over traditional sticks for drift resistance. TMR generally has the edge in precision and power efficiency, while Hall effect is well proven and widely available. Feel, stick tension and your deadzone settings matter as much as the sensor type, so check what each controller actually uses.
Trigger stops (or instant triggers) shorten how far you press a trigger before it registers, so shots and aim-down-sights react faster. Many controllers let you switch back to full travel for games where gradual pressure matters, such as driving.
Polling rate is how often the controller reports its inputs, measured in hertz. Higher rates can slightly reduce input delay, mostly on PC. On consoles the benefit is limited by the platform, so treat it as a bonus rather than the main reason to buy.
